A killer place to "find niches" supported by magazines is Zinio (www.zinio.com). It also allows non-US folks to pickup US publications.

Andre

I just came over from your video on Tim's site. I'm a fan of Nissan Sedans. A new magazine came out in the past year, it's called "Nissan Sport Magazine". When it was first announced, I totally thought it would bomb. Not only did it come out during Credit Crunch, but Nissan has not been a #1 seller in USA for any category of cars. Were there enough owners out there that cared or had interest in such a small specific niche? Yup, they sold out, and subscriptions are growing fast. Plus, much of it is user content. People write about their own cars, submit it in, and the editors pick and write about the interesting ones. The first mag had a few ads on every 5th page. The most recent one had an ad on every 3rd.

Girls and Corpses, I didn't believe it until I Googled it and saw the site. I guess there is something for everyone. I wonder what products I could sell in that magazine!

Not yet, we're busy running an Adwords campaign to split-test titles for it. And for the record, mine are always much smaller than Hosko's.

Couldn't resist:

Cowboys Who Are Christian
Cephalopods
Convenience Store News
American Cemetery
Sheep Magazine - The Voice of the Independent Flockmaster
Cell Door (About prison life)
Flying Funeral Directors (perhaps "flying" is an industry term within this context?)
Concrete Quarterly (probably a great publication to place any type of late night 800 number ads)

Absolutely right Mike. The problem is never not enough information - it's having far too much. It becomes paralyzing.

Nice post... probably the best 10 min video I've watched this month. Can't stress the information vs. solution argument enough. Leave the information stuff to wiki sites and be the provider of answers to people's questions.

Mike
